What is this all about?

I know! I know! You must have some questions about this strip. Who is Leu? who is Yar? What do they do? Well... you are in the right place. This page is intended to answer some of the questions you may have

Leu is cartoon character who works at a comic strip. He's single, in his late thirties I would say. He is a nice character. He loses his temper every now and then and starts yelling, but, hey!, who doesn't? What is peculiar about Leu is what he does. And what does he do? Nothing!... Yes you read right, nothing! He just hangs around reading the paper, watching TV, doing I don't know what on his computer, reading a book... you name it. What's even more peculiar is what happens to him while he's doing that, anything can (and will) happen to him in any situation. That's because "The Cartoonist" likes to have fun at Leu's expense. He can be reading the paper and suddenly he sees a note: "This newspaper will self-destruct in X amount of time", and BANG! the newspaper explodes in his face. Funny, isn't it? Maybe it's funny for you, but poor Leu is not having a picnic. He gets really depressed, you know? So he goes to Yar, his long time friend and co-worker at the strip, seeking advice, a word of encouragement, I don't know, some kind of support, but Yar is a little obsessed with cleaning, so he offers no support at all.

Then we have Dr. Birdmund, the official Doctor and Psychiatrist at the strip, and one of Leu's best friends. He wants to help Leu, he's there to help him, that's his job. But the poor guy is not very clever, and he can't even remember his own name.

"The Cartoonist", on the other hand, is Leu's cynical boss. We never see his face, only part of his right arm holding a pen and his drawing board."The Cartoonist" has made it a point in his life to have fun at Leu's expense. That's why Leu has to face so many weird situations in a given day.

When I started drawing the strip it only had those four characters. For some reason that I still don't know, Leu's personality deviated from what it was when I first conceived the character in 2002. I intended him to be more like a kid, playful and irresponsible, but he turned out to be more serious. Not wanting to change his personality I decided to add Leandro as Leu's little brother to supply the kid-like element that was missing.

Leandro is probably in his early twenties, but mentally, he's just a little kid. He laughs for everything, he can't keep a job and likes to play and watch TV all the time. In my opinion, Leandro is so funny that I'm afraid that one day the Strip's name will be Leandro instead of Leu and Yar.

Finally, we have Nutsy Chicken, a neurotic chicken that Leandro adopted as his pet. When I first drew Nutsy I didn't intend him to be a permanent character, but I find birds so funny, that I decided to fix him in a supporting role. Oh, how I love crazy birds!
